Course description

This course provides students with the opportunity to complete a major in Indonesian language and culture while studying their primary undergraduate degree. Students can be placed at range of levels from beginners to advanced dependent upon their ability. Language acquisition and proficiency are practiced within a broad context including film, theatre, history and the media with electives available in music, Islam, politics and linguistics. The Indonesian program offers its core units across three modes: on-campus, off-campus (distance), and study abroad and the flexibility for students to move between these modes if they wish .

Course structure

Students normally take a three-year sequence of core language and culture units as well as two additional units (one at either second or third year levels and another a third year level). These units are usually chosen from undergraduate reading units or units in Asian Studies, but can be replaced by an approved single 12-point postgraduate unit, eg Teaching Asian Languages.
