Students can be placed at range of levels from beginners to advanced dependent upon their ability. Language acquisition and proficiency are practiced within a broad context including film, theatre, history and the media with electives available in music, Islam, politics and linguistics. The Indonesian program offers its core units across three modes: on-campus, off-campus (distance), and study abroad and the flexibility for students to move between these modes if they wish . Course structureStudents normally take a three-year sequence of core language and culture units as well as two additional units (one at either second or third year levels and another a third year level). These units are usually chosen from undergraduate reading units or units in Asian Studies, but can be replaced by an approved single 12-point postgraduate unit, eg Teaching Asian Languages. Course requirementsStudents are required to complete a major (48 points) in Indonesian.
