Parkville First semester 2007 (Day)
Properties of polymers and excipients. Properties of powders. Unit operations. Pharmaceutical calculations.Tablets. Capsules. Hard and soft gelatin capsules, microencapsulation. Physical instability of solid dose forms. Polymorphism. Microbial instability. Formulation strategies. Classification and properties of disperse systems. Electrical stability of dispersions. Steric stabilisation and formulation principles. Aerosol systems. Homogenous aerosols. Heterogenous aerosols, emulsion aerosols. Foams.
Students will develop:
2.5 hour examination (100%)
24 hours of lectures, 9 three-hour practicals, 4 Web based learning modules of 3 hours duration and 4 one-hour tutorials.
