Clayton First semester 2007 (Day)
Advanced conversation and composition, as well as the study of major works of Ukrainian literary modernism.
This subject and its continuation, UKR3080, offer instruction in Ukrainian language at an advanced level.
Students on completing these subjects should be able to show that they have acquired the ability to discuss topics of moderate complexity at a near-native level, to write freely with the aid of a dictionary, utilizing a broad range of grammatical constructions, and to translate into Ukrainian texts of moderate difficulty. Students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the main grammatical rules, both morphological and syntactic, governing modern Standard Literary Ukrainian.
Students should also have gained an understanding of the development of Ukrainian literature of the Modernist period, a detailed knowledge of selected texts, and intermediate skills in literary analysis and criticism.
