Caulfield Second semester 2007 (Evening)
Students will be introduced to some fundamental issues underlying the design of quantitative social research along with a range of bivariate and multivariate techniques for the analysis of quantitative data using SPSS. Areas covered include: descriptive statistics; chi-square analysis; correlation and regression; analysis of variance; factor analysis and reliability analysis.
To provide students with:a basic set of tools with which to design quantitative social research projects;appropriate skills to analyse bivariate and multivariate quantitative data using SPSS.
Major report (4500 words): 50%
Minor report (2000 words): 20%
SPSS Master test (2 hours): 20%
Student participation : 10%
Additional comment:
No prior knowledge of SPSS is necessary.
