Synopsis

As for PHL4000(A)

Objectives

This subject provides students with their first experience of a supervised research project on a topic of their own choosing. Students will work up to the writing of the main research paper by a series of shorter assessment tasks, elements of which will be incorporated into the final draft.

Assessment

Synopses of key papers (3000 words): 5%
Literature Review (4000 words): 10%
First draft of research project (8000-10000 words): 15%
Final draft of research project: 60%
Presentation of thesis to Work-in-Progress Seminar (20-40 mins) : 10%
+ Students are also required to submit a bibliography before commencing their Synopses of key papers.

Contact hours

Weekly Work in Progress seminar (2 hours) and fortnightly supervision session.
