This unit will introduce the theories of learning. A framework for clinical teaching will be developed and different clinical teaching strategies that can be used to accommodate learning preferences will be explored together with strategies for learning practical and clinical problem solving skills. The factors that affect learning will be covered and the student will be provided the basic skills designed for overcoming barriers to learning and enhancing communication between student and clinical teacher. The unit will conclude by introducing the student to the common forms of assessment used in education and training and clinical teaching.
On completion of this unit, the student should demonstrate:
Clinical teaching and learning plan 30%, Clinical teaching activity 40%, Assignment 30%.
