Clayton Second semester 2007 (Day)
The unit is designed to provide an overview of the early music repertoire for study, listening and performance. It aims to foster an understanding of some of the issues and problems within the early music repertoire. It provides the foundation for an early music ensemble which functions simultaneously as a course for credit, a performance laboratory for a musicology curriculum and an extracurricular activity.
As for MUS2470, with the additional objective that students should be able to devise a short programme for public presentation.
Exercise (1000 words): 20%
Essay (1500 words): 30%
Practical examination (1 hour): 10%
Ensemble performance (1 hour): 40%
Third-year students will be expected to demonstrate ensemble leadership skills and must initiate their own performance project.
