Topics include the definition and scope of agribusiness; identification of members of the food and fibre sector and the various subsections; the roles and functions of agribusiness firms; linkages in the agribusiness system; key issues facing agribusiness firms.

Objectives

The learning goals associated with this unit are to:

• develop in-depth knowledge of key issues facing agribusiness firms
• gain insight into the roles and functions of agribusiness firms
• acquire knowledge of the definition and scope of agribusiness
• apply tools and techniques to analyse the linkages in the agribusiness system
• apply anlaytical methods to the structure and function of food and fibre chains.
