Synopsis

Topics include objectives and inplementation of agricultural policies in Australia and other countries; theories of the policy-making process; agribusiness organisations and the role of government; technological change and environmental issues.

Objectives

The learning goals associated with this unit are to:

• develop in-depth knowledge of international trade in food, wine and agribusiness
• gain insight into theories of international trade and the policy making process
• acquire knowledge of the impact of government policies, technological change and environmental issues on international agricultural trade
• acquire tools and techniques to analyse the planning and management of international agribusiness
• apply analytical methods to identify opportunities for international agri-food trade.

Assessment

Individual assignment 1 (4500 words): 40%
Individual assignment 2 (2500 words): 30%
Group presentation: 30%
