The placement aims to further develop clinical skills in interviewing, history taking, mental state examination, diagnosis, formulation and management planning. Students will be attached to clinical treatment teams in the adult psychiatry wards, and clinicians in the consultation-liaison psychiatric services to the general hospital. Students will conduct clinical assessments and discuss these with supervising clinicians and treating staff. Tutorials on clinical issues will supplement case-based teaching.
Written (SAQ) examination: 40%
Clinical long case presentation: 20%
Oral examination: 20%
Continuous assessment: 20%
This unit is not available to students in the 5 year structure of the MBBS program.
