Synopsis

Consolidate and develops skills in reading about and understanding issues in contemporary Korea. Texts include newspaper articles, advertisements, essays and fiction.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of this unit students will be able to:

1. Read authentic texts from various sources.
2. Write essays on topics of their interest.
3. Use dictionaries for reading more efficiently.

Assessment

Examination (2 hours): 40%
Reading assignments (total 2500 words): 60%

Contact hours

4 hours (2 x 1 hour lectures and 2 x 1 hour tutorials) per week
