Clayton First semester 2007 (Off-campus)
The primary focus is on the communication skills required for use in an Indonesian or Australian setting. Tutorials cover a broad introduction to the culture and geography of Indonesia as well as an introduction to strategies and skills required in learning a language. Practicals deal with the introduction and application of basic communication tasks with an emphasis on numeracy skills and immediate needs.
Upon successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
Spoken presentation (10 minutes): 25%;
Cultural Journal (in English): 1000 words: 15%;
Short tasks (500 words): 10%;
Written Examination (2 hours): 30%;
Spoken Exam (20 minutes) 20%.
4 hours (1 x lecture, 1 x tutorial and 2 x practicals) per week.
1 weekend school or equivalent hours with private tutor.
