The unit describes the evolution and current state of the art of the theory and practice of business intelligence systems. It describes the role of these systems in providing intelligence information to business decision makers, and explains the development process and some of the key techniques that support it. Topics covered include: An overview of the business
intelligence industry, the role of business intelligence systems, EIS and data warehouses, Decision Support Systems, Modelling and DSS, Knowledge Based DSS and Groupware and other business intelligence approaches.
Examination: 60%
