Clayton First semester 2007 (Day)
The unit centres on Judea at the turn of the era. It focuses particularly on the interaction of Judaism and Hellenism in Jerusalem, Alexandria and Rome. The origins of Rabbinic Judaism and Christianity are discussed in the context of the nature of sectarian Judaism. The significance of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Qumran site is discussed in the context of sectarian Judaism.
