Clayton First semester 2007 (Day)
Students will "workshop" translations of a variety of texts and present their work both individually and collectively; class presentations and discussions will explore issues of comparative stylistics, intercultural communication and the history and methodology of translation.
On completion of this subject students will have developed skills in translating from French into English and gained a basic knowledge of theoretical issues related to translation.
Two tests (200 words each): 15%
Translation project (1500-2000 words): 25%
Reading report (1500 words): 25%
Group translation presented in class (300 words): 15%
Translation workshop: 20%
