Clayton Second semester 2007 (Day)
This unit builds upon the skills developed in FRN3090 with particular attention to specific expository techniques: synthese (written) and expose (oral). Students will continue to familiarise themselves with issues in contemporary France, with emphasis on documents representative of the discourses of the social sciences. They will further develop their critical awareness of these issues. The unit constitutes an excellent preparation for the DALF exam (B3, B4), a prerequisite when seeking entry to most postgraduate courses in French universities and applying for French government scholarships.
At the conclusion of this unit, students should be able to demonstrate their mastery of advanced analytical, expository and argumentative skills in the context of
Two collaborative written assignments (1800 words): 10%
One class test (600 words): 20%
Oral participation and presentations: 15%
Final written exam (600 words): 25%
Final oral exam: 30%
