Synopsis

The Internet and business use of the Internet, electronic commerce and Internet mechanisms and infrastructures, Internet commerce software and multimedia, Internet and mobile communcation gateways, Internet commerce standards and security, Electronic payment systems, Internet transaction processing and business models for the Internet, Internet commerce strategies, intranets and extranets, managing and maintaining an Internet commerce presence, On-line Internet case development, Global opportunities and issues and trends in Internet commerce.

Objectives

  1. Appreciate the nature of Internet and its use for business;
  2. Understand and define Internet commerce;
  3. Model Internet-based commerce systems;
  4. Understand Internet mechanisms and infrastructures and their application;
  5. Describe the role of Internet commerce payment systems and how they are implemented;
  6. Explain why standards and security are required for Internet commerce;
  7. Describe how Internet-based commerece systems are implemented;
  8. Develop an extensive understanding of how internet commerce concepts, strategies, mechanisms,and infrastructure are brought together to produce Internet-based commerce systems;
  9. Discuss issues and trends in Internet commerce.
