Introduction to the principles and techniques of data management with computers - spreadsheet modelling of business problems, organising and accessing data efficiently. An overview of statistical techniques for making decisions with data - hypothesis testing with quantitative and categorical data. Introduction to methods for modelling data relationships - simple and multiple regression, analysis of variance; principles of risk analysis - building quantitative models of risk.
The learning objectives of this unit are to:

Examination (2 hours): 70%
Two 1-hour lectures and a 1.5 hour tutorial each week
