Clayton Second semester 2007 (Day)
Concept of risk, assessment techniques in various areas of engineering, risk assessment challenges in environmental engineering, risk perception by different groups, setting appropriate levels of risk, Australian Standards. Historical background, legislative framework for occupational health and safety, implementing appropriate OHS measures in the workplace. Aspects of toxicology of concern to environmental engineers: hazardous substances, identification, regulatory control, consequences of exposure, management and disposal.
