Synopsis

This unit extends the study of teaching strategies and media issues introduced in EDF5476. The focus will be on media production, children's media culture and media issues/critical readings outside the media studies curriculum. Students will be required to design and implement sequential programs of lessons in media studies.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of this unit, students will know how to manage the technicalities of media production. Students will also be exposed to the pedagogical significance of children's media culture. In addition to this, the course also aims to widen students' knowledge of other media texts outside the media studies curriculum.

Assessment

Essay (2000 words) 50%
Teaching portfolio: (2000 words equivalent) 50%
Successful completion of supervised school experience
