Clayton Second semester 2007 (Day)
This unit builds on the concepts introduced in EDF5474. This unit will focus on the development of extended lesson sequences and the Drama curriculum for the upper years of schooling.
Upon successful completion of this unit, students should have acquired an understanding of the place of drama in the secondary curriculum; a detailed knowledge of key curriculum documents, including the curriculum and standards framework (arts) document and the relevant VCE study designs; the ability to develop a relevant and meaningful drama program for secondary students at all levels; the ability to apply their knowledge of dramatic form and meaning to classroom settings; the capacity to cater for the needs of students in mixed-ability classrooms; a recognition of the value of kinaesthetic learning for students at all year levels.
Major assignment (1500 words): 40%
Workshop for Monash Drama Festival: 30%
Attendance at one performance and written analysis: 30%
Teaching practice also forms a major part of the assessment of this unit and students must complete at least 45 days teaching practice (50 for double degree students) and gain a rating of satisfactory for the teaching practice.
