Synopsis

A research-based study of place of history in the school curriculum and its relationship with other areas of study including Studies of Society and Environment (or Human Society and its Environment in New South Wales) - as well as, with Civics and Citizenship Education. This unit will survey best practice and current research in the field and will ask students to apply these findings to their workplace.

Objectives

This unit will introduce practising teachers of History to the latest national and international research findings in history education and will suggest ways that these findings may be implemented in the classroom.

Assessment

One minor introductory assignment 35% (2000 words)
One major research-based assignment 65% (4000 words)
