Undergraduate Faculty of Education

Leader: Dr N Allix

Clayton First semester 2007 (Day)

This unit examines the changing context of adult learning and development. It explores the range of learning places and the factors which encourage linkages between work, and individual and organisational development and learning. It considers the way broad contextual changes at a global, national and local level are re-shaping the place and character of learning at work, and it considers the practical work necessary to harness learning and organisational development to processes of workplace change. The role of the educator in all these processes and relationships is clearly critical.

Upon successful completion of this unit, students should be able to:

  1. Describe and analyse the concepts of work, organisation and learning;
  2. Identify and understand the essential links between work, organisation and learning; and
  3. Apply this knowledge in their own workplace contexts.
