Students gain an appreciation of the physical activity and wellness changes across a lifespan from childhood to older adulthood. Changes in the causes of illness and the new emphasis on fitness, wellness and healthy lifestyles have resulted in a shift toward prevention and promotion. The student's learn about strategies to engage people in physical activity across the lifespan including behaviour modification techniques, theories of activity adherence and principles and types of physical activity programs. A large component centres on the students themselves as they undergo a reflection of their current lifestyle and its implications for their future wellbeing.
Upon successful completion of this subject, students will be able to:
Assignment: 50% (2000 words)
Examination (2000 words equivalent): 50%
Hurdle requirement: 80% attendance at practicals/tutorials.
