Synopsis

Subject areas include the economics of imperfect markets; non-clearing behaviour in credit and goods markets; oligopoly theory; labour market behaviour and institutions; international capital flows and foreign debt.

Objectives

The learning goals associated with this unit are to:

• have a sound awareness of the intrinsic limitations of theoretical models
• apply the knowledge gained in theory units to concrete market phenomena
• incorporate institutional features in theoretical models
• understand the principles and practical constraints on the making of economic policies.
