Synopsis

Techniques for developing multimedia web applications for the enterprise using the Java programming language. Advanced Java topics for the enterprise and the web such as applets, Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs), JSPs, servlets and JDBC. Important WWW programming issues such as security and client-server communication.

Objectives

By the completion of this unit, students will have a theoretical and conceptual understanding to:

  1. acquire techniques to develop multimedia web applications using the Java programming language;
  2. understand the various advanced Java technologies used to build web applications for the enterprise;
  3. be able to competently use the advanced Java libraries to build a medium-size web application for the enterprise.




Assessment

2 Assignments: 80%
Research / Essay paper: 20%
