Clayton First semester 2007 (Day)
This unit aims to develop an understanding of the principles, techniques and applications of computer models in business and industry. Topics include decision trees, project management, discrete-event simulation, forecasting, service levels and inventory control, financial modelling and other decision support systems. Students are also introduced to the modelling of 'real-life' problems using mathematical models, spreadsheets or computer packages, and conduct a sensitivity analysis of these models to the input parameters.
Examination (2 hours): 70%
Assignment: 30%
Students must pass the examination in order to pass the unit.
One x 2hour lecture/week, one x 1hour laboratory/week
