After successful completion of the first level of the diploma (65 per cent average), students may transfer directly into the second level of the Bachelor of Technology (Infrastructure – Design, Construction and Management) offered by Monash and complete the final two levels of the degree. Throughout the program, there is strong emphasis on the application of information technology and the holistic development of the individual. Course objectivesThe course aims to provide the knowledge, skills and attitudes to build, manage and design the exciting infrastructure projects of the future. Course structureThe first level of the course is completed at an approved TAFE institute. Students are awarded 48 points of credit towards level 1 of the bachelors degree on the successful completion of all prescribed level 1 units taken in the approved TAFE institute. The second level of study introduces students to university training in transportation, water supply engineering and civil engineering design in some of the most popular construction materials. These include concrete, steel, timber and masonry. The third level equips students with a combination of advanced practical, technical and business skills for entering the workplace. In addition to the six core units taken at this level, students are required to choose two elective units depending on their interests. ArticulationStudents who complete the program at an appropriate level and complete a further two semesters of civil engineering study can also receive the Bachelor of Engineering in the field of civil engineering. Course requirementsThis is a new course structure for students entering level 2 of the program from 2006 onwards. Students who entered level 2 of the program prior to 2006 should refer to the handbook for the level in which they commenced the course. Second level
