Course description

Honours is a prestigious program comprising a fourth year of coursework and research after the completion of a Bachelor of Social and Community Welfare. Students choose a topic and undertake research working with a carefully selected supervisor who provides individual guidance and academic counselling.

Course objectives

Upon successful completion of the honours program, students will have extended their undergraduate knowledge in a specific area of social and community welfare through in-depth research and built upon their skills in the areas of research, analysis, writing and other forms of communication.

Course structure

A student must complete 48 points, including a thesis, to qualify for honours degree. Studies may be taken on a full-time or part-time basis, and students undertaking honours by off-campus learning are strongly advised to enrol on a part-time basis.
