Emphasis is placed on the practical and vocational elements of professional practice. On completion, students may apply to upgrade to the Bachelor of Social and Community Welfare or the related double degrees. Course structureCourse requirementsA candidate for the diploma must complete the following requirements to a total of 96 points: (a) a prescribed sequence in social and community welfare (66 points):

(c) DFS1611 Understanding university learning, or a first-year elective (6 points) (d) a further 6 points in arts at second-year level. * The psychological studies units provide an introduction to understanding our behaviour, which is particularly tailored to those students intending to proceed in the social and community field. Students may choose to replace the psychological studies units with psychology units PSY1011 Psychology 1A and PSY1022 Psychology 1B. Professional recognitionThe course is recognised by the Australian Institute of Welfare and Community Workers.
