The course is taught in conjunction with industry partners. Students are required to be working in a clinical area where they predominantly care for children and their families. Course objectivesOn completion of the course it is expected that graduates will: 1. acquire practice skills enabling them to plan, implement and evaluate complex care for children and families; 2. form caring relationships within the clinical environment of children’s nursing that reflect a family centred philosophy; 3. evaluate a range of professional and health care issues and formulated appropriate strategies that promote the development of nursing practice involving children and families; 2. critically reflect on their own practice in order to maintain high standards of care and identify ongoing professional development needs; and 5. act as professional role models and mentors for less experienced colleagues. AssessmentAssessment includes case study reports, tests, online tutorial discussion groups, clinical skills exams, clinical performance, advanced life support assessment, learning packages and assignments.
