Course description

This postgraduate degree, offered for the first time in 2006, was developed by Monash Law School's International Institute of Forensic Studies and the Australian Advocacy Institute (AAI), with the assistance of Monash University's Faculty of Engineering.

The course was developed to meet the growing need for professional advocacy and expert evidence training professionals operating in the construction and engineering fields. It has both a conceptual and practical emphasis, particularly relevant to the interaction between the legal and the construction and engineering professions.

Course structure

Students must complete the following four units, each worth 6 points:

LAW7281 The expert witness in the adversary system
LAW7282 Pre-trial analysis and preparation
LAW7283 Loss, causation and damages
LAW7284 The expert witness in the courtroom
