Monash Graduate School of Business

Created to serve as a focus for all the Monash graduate programs in business, the Monash Graduate School of Business (Monash GSB) is a totally different kind of business school – combining excellence and innovation with diversity. Its programs include higher degrees by research – PhD and DBA; cross-faculty programs, such as the MBA and Master of International Business; specialist masters degrees in management, marketing, accounting, banking, finance, business law and taxation to name but a few.

Most coursework programs are offered on the Caulfield campus in a purpose built graduate building which contains state of the art teaching and studying facilities, including a designated postgraduate lounge, full wireless connectivity, multiple IT labs, and leading edge theatrettes.

Discipline areas

The Monash GSB offers a variety of programs for students with different backgrounds and aspirations. Most masters coursework degrees in the GSB comprise 12 or 16 units in the following disciplines: business administration, accounting, banking, finance, risk management, international business, diplomacy and trade, management, human resources, marketing, logistics, retailing, business law, taxation, economics, health economics, and econometrics.

Program structures

Higher degrees by research are available: PhD, DBA, MPhil and a research degree qualifying program, the Master of Philosophy preliminary (MPhil prelim).

Coursework masters degrees and related graduate certificates and graduate/postgraduate diplomas are offered across the full spectrum of business disciplines. Students who wish to terminate their studies after completion of four or eight units may apply for these awards: Graduate Certificate (four units) or Graduate Diploma (eight units).

Executive certificates are designed to cater for managers who have significant experience but do not have a first degree. The executive certificate provides an entry point to masters degrees for students who obtain an average grade of credit or above.

See the Outline of graduate studies page for the list of courses offered in 2007.
