Areas of research specialisation include media studies, history and theory of mass media, visual culture; applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, second language acquisition, German for special purposes, discourse and text analysis; contemporary German literature, sociology of literature, aesthetics, literary theory, comparative literature, poetics, rhetoric and cultural studies; travel literature, literature of the fantastique; cultural identity, migration and bilingualism.
