Course description

The Graduate Certificate of English (International) is for students who are preparing to undertake a program of postgraduate study and wish to increase their knowledge and skills in the English language. This course is especially designed to cover the issues in language that are relevant to further study as the subjects cover topics such as the development of academic language and the cultural and ideological approach to study and research within the western academic tradition.

The program aims to address the language and cultural needs of students entering into further study within the Humanities and Social Sciences by considering both the professional expectations of language and the approach to knowledge required within the academic context. As well as offering a range of academic skills the program also includes some key concepts of professional English that will be useful in the student’s future career.
