Undergraduate studies

The faculty offers bachelors degrees on each of the Caulfield and Gippsland campuses, but the range of courses and major and minor sequences available is different on each campus.

At Caulfield, students of the Department of Fine Arts can major in ceramics, glass, interdisciplinary design, metals and jewellery, painting, printmedia, photomedia, sculpture and tapestry. In the Department of Design, students can undertake studies in design, visual communication, interior architecture and industrial design. In the Department of Multimedia and Digital Arts, students undertake studies in multimedia and digital arts, and multimedia design and digital imaging. The faculty has double degrees in industrial design/engineering, visual arts/arts, visual arts/business, visual arts/business/commerce and visual arts/education.

At the Gippsland Centre for Art and Design, students can take the visual arts studio programs. Art and design studies on all campuses include sequences in drawing and theory of art and design.

Some departments or the centre may not offer all units in any one year depending on student demand and the availability of staff. Students will be notified as early as possible of the withdrawal of any unit.

The faculty also offers honours degrees on the Caulfield campus. A candidate who has completed the requirements for the pass degree and who has reached a standard satisfactory to the faculty board, normally set at credit level or above, may apply to be admitted to candidature for the degree with honours, requiring a fourth year of study.
