Course description

This course, offered by the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences, is designed to provide radiographers with the academic framework for the development of a range of advanced supervisory, problem-solving and leadership skills in relation to specific technologies. The course is offered in two streams: computed tomography (CT) or general radiography. The program articulates with the Graduate Certificate in Radiographic Practice.

Entry requirements

Applicants must be graduates from a four-year degree program in radiography and medical imaging or a three-year degree program in radiography with completion of an honours year who have at least one year post-qualification clinical experience and a Statement of Accreditation from the Australian Institute of Radiography or equivalent professional qualification. Graduates of a three-year bachelor degree in radiography or equivalent who have at least one year of clinical experience following completion of the professional development year and have attained their Statement of Accreditation from the Australian Institute of Radiography are also eligible to apply. Radiographers who qualified with a three-year Diploma of Applied Science in Medical Radiography or equivalent may also apply for admission to the course. Prior to admission to the radiographic and CT units, applicants must provide evidence verifying that they are engaged in related clinical practice.

This course is comprised of four 6-point units and two 12-point units.

General radiography stream

Semester 1
  • MRP4001 Digital imaging in radiographic practice
  • MRP4003 Clinical and cross sectional imaging anatomy
Semester 2
  • MRP4010 Contemporary professional practice
Elective units

Assessment

Assessment includes written examinations, practical skills examinations and theoretical essays.
