Units indexed by faculty Graduate Certificate in Medical UltrasoundCourse code: 3432 + Course abbreviation: GradCertMedUltra + Total credit points required: 24 + 2 semesters part-time Study mode and course locationOff-campus (Clayton) Course descriptionThis course, offered by the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences, is intended for radiographers or other suitably qualified health professionals seeking to gain an understanding of the principles of ultrasound and study in a particular field of ultrasound. Entry requirementsApplicants will generally be graduates of a degree program in radiography and medical imaging or equivalent who have attained their Statement of Accreditation from the Australian Institute of Radiography or equivalent. Applicants holding degrees in other related areas (such as medicine, nursing, biomedical sciences, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine or other health sciences) will be considered, and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences. Prior to admission to the sonographic imaging units, applicants must provide evidence verifying that they are actively engaged in clinical ultrasound for the equivalent of three days a week. The university does not accept any responsibility for finding clinical placements and examination variety. Suitably qualified international students wishing to undertake the diploma in their country of residence must also satisfy the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences in respect to the appropriateness of their clinical supervision. The course involves compulsory attendance of up to five days at Monash’s Clayton campus. Course structureThe course consists of four units, completed over two 16-week semesters. Year oneSemester 1
