Enrolment and re-enrolment

Commencing students

Postgraduate coursework students may enrol by mail or in person at the Monash University Law Chambers. Enrolment instructions are provided with the letter of offer.

In the case of research degrees, students will be notified by the faculty higher degrees by research coordinator (for SJD and LLM by major thesis) or by the Monash Research Graduate School (for PhD and MPhil). Students enrolling in the degree of Master of Laws who are undecided as to whether to proceed by way of major thesis, coursework and minor thesis, or coursework alone should make an appointment to see the convenor, Master of Laws program, to discuss the matter.

Continuing students

Postgraduate students continuing their studies are required to complete and return the re-enrolment information sent to them or re-enrol via the Web Enrolment System (WES). Re-enrolment instructions are normally distributed in October of each year.

Masters students who wish to start planning their thesis should contact the postgraduate studies office on +61 3 9641 6206 to discuss their topic and an appropriate supervisor before re-enrolling. In some areas of law, supervisors may not be available or may be in short supply, and it is therefore essential for our planning that we know how many students are seeking supervision, in what area, and when.
