Postgraduate Certificate of Education (Gifted Education)

Course description

This course is designed for teachers, educational administrators, psychologists and other professionals who wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of the gifted and talented and appropriate educational provisions.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for admission to the course applicants must hold either:

  • an approved three-year bachelors degree in a relevant field with a credit average in the final year, or
  • an approved three-year bachelors degree (or equivalent) and a fourth year of study, or
  • an approved four-year bachelors degree.

Course structure

The course consists of 24 points of study. Students will complete two 12-point units chosen from the following list:

  • EDF6607 Gifted education; identification and programming, and/or
  • EDF6610 The psychology of the gifted child, and/or
  • EDF6613 Advanced studies in gifted education

Candidates who successfully complete the Postgraduate Certificate of Education (Gifted Education) may complete a masters degree in education by undertaking a further two or four units respectively.
