Course description

Such students will be required to achieve specified minimum grade levels prior to their proceeding to graduate or postgraduate study.

Entry requirements

Admission to this course will be open to applicants who possess a degree or diploma or who have equivalent professional/commercial experience and who are qualified educators or who have suitably acceptable experience in a related field. Application forms for off-campus mode via Gippsland campus can be obtained from the Course Inquiries Centre on free call 1800 671 845 or by email at course.inquiries@CeLTS.monash.edu.au. Applications for on-campus mode are available from the faculty office, Clayton campus.

Course structure

The course comprises 24 points of study, normally completed by the student undertaking four 6-point units.

This qualification is designed to be very flexible and will permit a wide range of studies and activities in professional development to be drawn together, including credit for non-award programs, workplace research, formal units of study and supervised independent study as part of a ‘recognition of prior learning’ program. There are several recommended pathways through this course, and applicants can choose from the following:

  • A selection of off-campus learning units.
  • A combination of off-campus learning units plus a selection of specially contracted units.
  • A combination of off-campus and on-campus units.
  • A selection of on-campus units.

All unit choices will be contingent upon prerequisites, which are stated in the ‘Unit information’ section of this handbook.

It should be noted that professional development pathways may be contracted by educators in industry or professionals other than school teachers.
