This course is suitable for both native and non-native speakers of Japanese. Graduates should be able to operate as consecutive interpreters and translators at a high level of generalist professional competence. Graduates should also gain knowledge and understanding of the professional aspects of interpreting and translation and an advanced knowledge of theoretical concerns relevant to studies of interpreting and translation. Entry requirementsThe minimum requirement for entry is set for five groups: (a) Native English applicants:

(e) Applicants who have completed a similar course in the past or are currently undertaking one are required to submit a letter of reference from a teacher in that course. Exit pointsAfter successful completion of 24 points, students may apply to exit the program with a Graduate Certificate of Arts, or after successful completion of 48 points with a Postgraduate Diploma in Japanese Interpreting and Translation. Minimum pass gradeTo graduate with the Master of Japanese Interpreting and Translation, students must gain a credit (60 C) or above in core units and a minimum credit average overall.
