The undergraduate program

The following undergraduate courses are available on the Caulfield campus.

General campus information

Unless otherwise stated in the individual course entry section of this publication, entry requirements, professional recognition information and contact details for further inquiries for all Caulfield campus single and double degrees are standard and are listed below.

Entry requirements

(a) Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)

Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 25 in English (any) and mathematics (any).

(b) Comparable qualifications

Applicants may also satisfy entry requirements with qualifications equivalent to VCE, eg TAFE qualifications (a TAFE diploma or equivalent TAFE qualification) or comparable Year 12 qualifications, including International Baccalaureate, or other approved tertiary study.

(c) Special admission

Students who have not successfully completed VCE or equivalent may satisfy entry requirements by completing at least two Monash non-award single unit or Open Learning (OLA) units. Professional recognition

Students who wish to obtain membership of professional bodies may do so by enrolling in the appropriate degree and/or units as specified below.

Accounting

Taxation

Students who wish to obtain registration with the Tax Agents Board must complete an accounting degree and include in their study an approved taxation law unit. Details can be found in Regulation 156 of the Income Tax Regulations Act 1936 (http://www.ato.com.au).

Auditor/liquidator

Graduates of Bachelor of Business tagged degrees at Caulfield are eligible for registration as an auditor or liquidator with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (http://www.asic.gov.au) and should obtain registration with CPA or ICAA, or undertake a faculty degree majoring in accounting with four units (including `Corporations law and trusts') from the Department of Business Law and Taxation.

Retail

The following Caulfield course is recognised by the Australian Retailers' Association (http://www.ara.com.au):

Psychology

The following Caulfield course consists of an APS (Australian Psychological Society)-accredited sequence of three years, which would enable the requirements of the APS By-Laws for Associate Membership to be met if the course is supplemented by an APS-accredited fourth year (see (http://www.psychsociety.com.au):

Risk management

The following Caulfield course satisfies the educational requirements for membership of the Australasian Institute of Risk Management (AIRM) (http://www.airm.org.au):

Business law

Units offered by the Department of Business Law and Taxation in the BBus(Law) assist students to meet the educational requirements of CPA Australia; the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia; the Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance (banking specialisation); the licence and membership requirements of ASIC, the ASX and the SFE; registration as an auditor or liquidator with ASIC; and registration as a tax agent. Candidates should check with the Department of Business Law and Taxation for advice on the appropriate units.
