Graduate Diploma in Law

Course code: 1981 + Course abbreviation: GradDipLaw + 6 months full-time, 1 year part-time

This course caters for the needs of graduates in disciplines other than law who have an interest in the study of law at an advanced level (for example accountants, para-legal workers, legal studies teachers, law office librarians, administrators and management personnel). It also increases the range of options for law graduates who wish to undertake a postgraduate qualification.
A candidate for the Graduate Diploma in Law must complete four approved units. Candidates who do not have an undergraduate law degree must complete LAW7212 (Australian legal system) as one of the four units. Exemptions for some students may apply.
Students may enrol in the general graduate diploma or one of the following specialisations:
Banking and finance law - for those who wish to:

Commercial law - for those who:

Digital economy law - for those who wish to:

Intellectual property - for those who wish to:

International and comparative law - for those who want to pursue an international career in law and law-related work. This area is especially suited to:

Tribunal procedures - for those members of administrative tribunals who require certain core skills and knowledge to carry out their role, whatever their professional background. This course allows them to:

Workplace and employment law - for those who have an interest in the study of all facets of workplace and employment law. This area is suited to those who wish to develop their knowledge of workplace, employment, discrimination and human rights law.
Candidates enrolled in specialist diplomas are required to complete a minimum number of units in that discipline.
