Course description

This course is designed for those without tertiary qualifications and enables graduates who have not completed a degree to become academically qualified to enter the CA program of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the CPA program of the CPA Australia.
The course is also designed to cater for domestic students who may prefer to study accounting at an advanced level upon completion of their basic accounting qualification.

Entry requirements

Applicants need to have completed:

Advanced standing

Candidates may be eligible for advanced standing for a maximum of six credit exemptions for units considered to be equivalent to particular units in the course of study. Those who have completed the Master of Practising Accounting in the last five years will be eligible for 12 units of credit.

Course structure

(a) Students must complete 12 core units (72 credit points):

(b) Students must complete four (24 credit points) 4000-level or 5000-level units from any faculty across the university subject to the approval of the course director.

Professional accreditation

For students already holding an undergraduate degree, completion of this course will enable graduates to meet the academic requirements for associate membership status with the CPA Australia and satisfies the entry into the CA program of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
