English language requirements for postgraduate courses in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences may be met in one of the following ways:
Note: Postgraduate courses offered through the Department of Epidemiology and Preventative Medicine require an IELTS score overall of 7.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0, or a TOEFL 600 with TWE of 5, or a computer-based TOEFL 250 with an essay rating (ER) of 5.
Documentary evidence must be supplied with the application.
In most cases, access to an IBM-compatible computer with CD-ROM facility is essential for the use of word processing and other software packages. It is also recommended that OCL students have access to a modem to facilitate email communication with teaching staff and access to web-based teaching material.
Some courses may also require compulsory attendance for particular units. This is usually carried out in a block of face-to-face study over a period of two to seven days. For specific details about compulsory attendance, check with the relevant teaching department.
Faculty advanced standing and credit transfer guidelines state
that students may receive, with the approval of the course coordinator, up to
50 per cent credit, or advanced standing, towards their program. No credit will
be granted for work completed more than seven years prior to admission of
candidature. Applications for advanced standing/credit will be assessed on an
individual case-by-case basis.
Application for advanced standing forms are available from the department and
must be accompanied with full documentation, including course outlines and
content.
