Postgraduate Diploma of Education - general course option

The course is designed for students wishing to pursue their studies in education at postgraduate level from across a broad range of areas.

Entry requirements

Applicants require:

Advanced standing for previous studies

Applicants contemplating admission to this course may seek formal credit or recognition of prior learning. Applicants should apply for credit/RPL prior to enrolment. The Faculty of Education considers each application on its merit within the context of the faculty guidelines on credit transfer. Further information may be sought from the Faculty of Education at the Clayton campus.

Course length/workload required

The Postgraduate Diploma of Education requires a minimum of one year of full-time study and no more than three years of part-time study. Each unit is one semester in length. The expected number of hours per week for a part-time student is 24.

Course structure

The course consists of 48 credit points of study. Students will complete four 12-point units selected from the units offered within the postgraduate coursework studies programs and approved by the course coordinator.

Candidates who successfully complete the Postgraduate Diploma of Education may complete a masters degree by undertaking up to a further two units (including a Research core unit) respectively.

Assessment

All units are assessed by a combination of tasks, which may include examinations, assignments and other set tasks.
