Attendance may be compulsory, optional or not required. Relevant details are contained in the course descriptions in this book.
Compulsory attendance may be required primarily for courses that are laboratory-based or require group interaction. These courses include, but are not restricted to, studies in biology, chemistry and physics (from second year), engineering, medicine, visual arts studio units, psychology, social welfare and social work.
Some of the Gippsland-based courses and units offer classes at weekend schools (approximately twice per semester). A number of courses and units based at other campuses also conduct weekend and residential schools. Attendance at all or any of these classes is encouraged. The classes are organised to provide students with the opportunity for interaction with both lecturers and fellow students, and to provide access to study facilities such as libraries and computer laboratories. Students unable to attend these optional classes will not be disadvantaged.
Many courses require no on-campus attendance by students, therefore classes for optional attendance are not offered.
