A student may qualify for an honours degree at the conclusion of his or her LLB studies. A student will qualify for an honours degree, class I, IIA, IIB or III, where his or her weighted average based on all law units attempted at Monash reaches a minimum numerical grade determined by the honours committee.
Any student may seek enrolment in the honours thesis unit LAW5207 at the end
of his or her penultimate year of LLB studies. However, a quota will be applied
to this unit, and students will be admitted on the basis of their weighted
average based on all law units attempted at Monash to the end of their
penultimate year of LLB studies.
Students wishing to apply for research unit LAW5207 should do so by
mid-November of their penultimate year. Students who have not applied by this
time but who, as a result of their penultimate year of study, wish to do so,
should apply within a week of the publication of their results in their
penultimate year.
