Course abbreviation: BTech(Infrastructure)
The Bachelor of Technology (Infrastructure - Design, Construction and Management) degree is of three years duration if taken full-time or up to six years if taken part-time. These time limits include an allowance of one year for completion of approved studies at TAFE. The BTech (Infrastructure) is articulated with the Diploma of the Built Environment run at the Holmesglen Institute of TAFE. After successful completion of the first year of this program (65 per cent average), students may transfer directly into the second year of the Bachelor of Technology (Infrastructure - Design, Construction and Management) at Monash University Clayton campus. The third year of the course is also conducted at Clayton campus.
The second year introduces the BTech student to university-style training in
transportation, water supply engineering and civil engineering design in some
of the most popular construction materials. These include concrete, steel,
timber and masonry.
The third year of the BTech equips students with a combination of advanced
practical, technical and business skills for entering the workplace. In
addition to the six core or compulsory units taken at this level, students are
required to choose two elective units depending on their interests.

in full in the course list for the Bachelor of Technology degrees included
after this section of the handbook. Students should become familiar with the
requirements for completion of the degree set out in the course list.
Throughout the program there is strong emphasis on the application of
information technology and the holistic development of the individual.
Students who have completed the BTech program at an appropriate level and
complete a further three semesters of civil engineering study can also receive
the BE (Civil) degree.
